The Museum, set up by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in the headquarters of the Geophysical Observatory built in 1889, is dedicated to the Earth, to the processes that govern its evolution, to the tools and methods of geophysics. The Museum offers an interactive journey "to discover the inaccessible", from inside the Earth to earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis and geomagnetism. Part of the itinerary retraces the evolutionary stages of scientific research and of the disciplines that study the geophysical phenomena of our planet, also proposing to illustrate the scientific path that is the basis of our geophysical knowledge.
The museum exhibition was created thanks to the collaboration between expert museologists and scientists to make it a place of learning through involvement and interactivity, thanks to interactive installations and exhibits, accompanied by descriptive panels that present a scientifically correct but accessible and captivating language. and from current and historical scientific instruments.
